Planning for 51 houses refused!

Posted 6 September 2018

The MSDC Planning Committee has considered the latest planning application for 51 new houses and has refused it in its present form. The primary reason was that the blocks of flats near the entrance were not appropriate for a rural setting. What happens next is unclear as there is still outline planning permission for this site. It may go to appeal or they may make another application. We will have to wait and see.

In order to maximise participation the Schedule is being published now (click here) so that growers can plant the right things to be able to enter at the later than usual date of 1st September. Revised plans for Barns Cottage development

Posted 16 October 2018

Nicholas King Homes, the developer for the 51 new homes on the Barns Cottage site, have submitted a new planning application that has reduced the height of the two blocks of flats at the entrance to the site, taking into account the reason for refusal of their application made earlier this year. However, they have also appealed against the refusal of their earlier planning application but say that will withdraw the appeal if the latest plans are accepted. The new plans can be seen on the MSDC Planning portal under reference DM/18/4039. Consultation on the new planning application continues until 9th November and comments can be left via the MSDC Planning portal or by e-mail or letter. NKH Planning Manager, Wesley McCarthy, is keen to be contacted by anyone who would like to discuss the new plans or with queries prior to the deadline of 9th Nov (Tel 01494-811820 or e-mail wesleym@nkhomes.com)

Barns Cottage houses approved

Posted 06 December 2018

The Planning Application by Nicholas King Homes (NKH) for the 51 new homes on the Barns Cottage site, including the reduced height blocks of flats at the entrance, has now been approved unanimously by MSDC. If you want to view the approved plans they can be seen on the MSDC Planning portal under reference DM/18/4039. NKH want to start construction as soon as possible and are planning to initiate site works in the second week on January. One of the first major pieces of work will be construction of the access junction with the A272, so that this can be used by construction traffic, and the associated work for the footpath crossing the access. NKH say they are hoping to finish the majority of the groundworks before the dry weather which will help to minimise dust problems. Construction of the buildings will start near the entrance with the blocks of flats and then proceed down the hill for the houses.
